CHARACTERS THAT NEVER APPEARED

These are some of the characters I worked on over the years, unfortunately there just wasn't time or room to fit them into the manga!

THE HERMIT CRABS

Not all mer species have tails! Some are related to crabs and lobsters and do actually have legs. Their feet don't look like a humans though, they have a single pointed toe that's very sharp, or sometimes small pincers for toes, so they're still not very good for walking on land. Feet like this are great for running over reef bottoms! Their bodies are also covered in protective shell plates.

In earlier drafts Volume 3 introduced the Hermit Crabs, a small band of travelling merchants that sail the oceans in their underwater submarine-like clam ship, the Porallix. These creatures have a big sideways-curled bushy tail that they use to carry huge snail shells that they can pop into and hide at a moment's notice. Their left hands are instead big claws that could slice through bone, handy when you have to defend yourself against sea monsters on a daily basis!

ARGYLE

A hot-headed teenager, Argyle is the youngest of the group of merchants and definitely attracts the most trouble. His temper often gets the best of him, but deep down he still has a heart of gold, even if he has a funny way of showing it.

TWITTERDEED

The only female in this particular group, Twitterdeed is just a little older than Argyle and serves as the company's moral and emotional compass. She is the go-to gal whenever someone else has trouble or needs someone to talk to, and she often finds herself telling a lot of the others what to do. Sometimes it seems like she's the only one with any common sense!

OTHER MEMBERS OF THE PORALLIX CREW

Fleagerhorn - The captain

Gillygamin - His second in command

Abberdock - Crew medic

Hagershire - Oldest and wisest undersea sailor of the group

ZILVRION

Mica's long-lost father, a black and white Commerson's Dolphin merwhale with long white hair. He fell in love with a beautiful Orcan once, and has never forgotten her. But, his mysterious job that keeps him always hanging around temples means he hasn't seen her in over seventeen years. He doesn't even know he has a son!
