Awa is a baby sealicorn (not to be confused with a narwhale). Sealicorns are simply the aquatic version of a unicorn, they look like a very large white seal with a single horn on the forehead, and small earflaps. Adult male sealicorns have a white mane like a lion, and slightly longer horns. Sealicorns are native to the ice covered shores around the kingdom of Orca, some are kept and trained as riding animals for when Orcans wish to go ashore.

Awa was adopted as a pup by Azuri, after her parents were killed by a giant jellysquid. Although it was rough to get used to, Awa now considers Azuri as part of her family and follows the princess around everywhere.
